DISABILITIES: Psychological Conditions

Psychological Conditions, or otherwise known as affective mood disorders, impact on the ability to learn in a way that cannot be explained by intellectual or sensory factors. Some of the more common disorders are Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Depression, Bipolar, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Schizophrenia, Recovery from Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, etc.

Available Support
The support and accommodations provided each student is based upon the documentation presented by the student. Each person’s documentation is evaluated and the student will discuss reasonable accommodations with a disability specialist. Some of the accommodations utilized by students with Psychological and/or Medical Conditions include:

  • Personal, academic and career track counseling
  • Program planning and advisement specific to a student's needs
  • Priority registration
  • Alternative test taking accommodations
  • Referrals to outside clinics and agencies
  • Locker (lockers are assigned based on priorities)
