Ask Advisor Alex
Dear Advisor Alex:
I want to Withdraw from one of my classes- but the professor is out at a conference all this week so I can’t get her signature on the form! What do I do?
Thanks,
Withdrawing Wanda
Dear Withdrawing:
Don’t panic! The Withdrawal policy has just been updated for just such emergencies. You no longer need a signature from the instructor to Withdraw from a class. Simply fill out the form, sign the Financial Aid Withdrawal Information form, and submit both to the OASIS by Thursday, October 25. In the future though, it’s a good idea to talk to the instructor before you Withdraw, in case there are other options or considerations.
Always,
Advisor Alex

Dear Advisor Alex:
I just got an email saying I have a registration date for the Winter Session. Is that the same as Spring? If not, what is it?
Sincerely,
Wondering Wayne
Dear Wondering:
This is a common source of confusion. Winter Session is separate from Spring and is an intense 3-week class session from January 2-January 23. Because you are only in classes for only 16 days, a 3 credit class is held 4 days a week for 3 hours and 45 minutes at a time! Not for the faint of heart. But, if you are a strong student and are looking for a way to speed up graduation, it can be a great option for you. Check out the Winter 2008 information on the Registrar’s site: http://registrar.hunter.cuny.edu/index2.shtml
Always,
Advisor Alex
