Ask Advisor Alex and Other Apt Advice for the Week of September 3, 2007
Dear Advisor Alex
I know it’s late, but I want to add one more class to my schedule. The class I want has space in it, and it doesn’t say that permission or a prerequisite is required, but when I try to register for it in eSIMS it won’t let me. Why not?
Thanks,
Curious George
Dear Curious:
As of Thursday, August 30, you need departmental permission to add any class, even if the class doesn’t normally require permission. Some departments will not allow late course adjustments, so you will have to check with them to see if you can add the course now. You only have until Friday, September 7 to get permission and add classes to your schedule, so you should be sure to do it this week
Always,
Advisor Alex

Dear Advisor Alex:
In the first week of classes I replaced my English course with a section that was at a better time for me. I just looked at my bill on eSIMS and it says I have an $18.00 balance, but I paid my tuition bill in full at the beginning of August and I replaced the English with the exact same class, so why is there a cost difference?
Sincerely,
Cost-Conscious Carl
Dear Cost-Conscious:
There is not a cost difference between the two English classes. The $18.00 charge you see is a program adjustment fee. Each time you make a change to your schedule after classes start, you are charged this fee. You want to be careful about making changes to your schedule once classes start because these fees can add up quickly!
Always,
Advisor Alex
