GRADES: Grade-Point Average (GPA)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

General scholarship is indicated by a Grade-Point Average (GPA), which is also referred to as the cumulative index or index. There are two types of GPA:

  • the semester GPA, an average of all grades earned in one semester at the degree granting institution

  • the cumulative GPA, an average of all grades earned during all semesters at the degree granting institution

Transfer grades are not included in the Hunter GPA. Effective in 2004, courses taken on permit at another CUNY college will be calculated into the Hunter GPA.

To calculate your GPA, you needn't possess an advanced knowledge of calculus. Download the GPA Worksheet (PDF), and give it a try.

For more information about the GPA, visit the Registrar on-line, or consult the Hunter College Undergraduate Catalog.
