WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING Students Students “I cannot believe that this wealth of resources has existed right here all this time, and that I have yet to take advantage of what is so readily available. I really appreciate the eye opener!”—Brandon Lewis, Senior. Major: Film& Media Studies, Minor: Economic “All the recruiters of the companies (at the Spring 2006 Career Fair) that I spoke to were nice and really straightforward. Friday was my interview with the Association for Metro Area Children Services and the organization would like to hire me! I also got a call from YAI to interview! The Career Fair was very good so (CDS) should be proud.” —John, Status: Junior, Major: History “Job hunting can be an extremely frustrating process. I found myself constantly upset and disappointed that I was not hearing from employers. I submitted my résumé several times a week and never got a call for an interview. A friend of mine advised me to visit my school’s Career Development Services department. I set up an appointment and found the services provided for me to be extremely helpful. The staff were all very nice and because of their hard work and clear understanding of the job hunting process they helped me land a great internship that eventually lead to a more stable position. I can’t thank the staff of CDS at Hunter College enough for all of their advice and dedication in helping me obtain the job I have wanted for so long.” —J.B., Major: Political Science “The Internship Coordinator is probably one of the nicest staff members at Hunter. She is very organized, responsible, reliable, and just extremely helpful. She checked my cover letter and gave me good advice when I had a hard time obtaining an internship at Bellevue Hospital. Then she called me and followed up with me where I have my internships, asked me about my experiences and reminded me to ask for recommendation letters at the end of my internships. Because of her, I have internships both at Lenox Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital, which I enjoy very much. I am happy I can share my positive opinion about her since she deserves it so much.” —M.D. (expected date of graduation, Spring 2007) “I attended your workshop (Graduating Senior Meetings) It was nice to hear so much useful information just before we go on the job interviews. This workshop was very useful and I hope you will keep doing it for more students.” —Wei Zhang, Graduating Senior “The Internship Coordinator has always made time for me, between both our hectic schedules, even if that meant me coming in early before her scheduled hours or her staying a little late to meet with me. I am a returning student to Hunter, trying to change careers. She always seems to understand exactly what I am looking for even when I am not to clear or sure what I need for myself. In addition, she always makes sure that my résumé looks up to par and she always follows up with me to make sure that I have been placed, as well as if I will be coming back for any other internship opportunities. She is so nice and easy to talk to. She makes me feel that I can call on her at any time and always has a way to make me feel like I am the only student she is helping.” —L.J., B.A., Psychology, (expected date of graduation, 6, 2008) “Thanks to Hunter Career Development Services for sponsoring such a well-organized event. (Career Fair 2006). The number and diversity of participating organizations, at least sixty different groups representing health, social services, education, government, banking, media, publishing, retail and others were impressive. Your foresight and planning were apparent. To have so many companies present enabled me to talk briefly with about fifteen different representatives in under two hours. I plan to follow up with four or five. My only wish is that in the future you might have the arts represented (museums, auction houses, galleries). Thanks again for such a well-run event.” —J. K., Graduate Student, Art History “I want to thank everybody at Career Development Services. All your help has been very useful in my job search. As a result, now I have not one, but two jobs, and I am going to be making more money that I was expecting. I am working part time in youth consulting services, and I am also an account manager for another company. I feel very happy for this accomplishment and you guys are a part of it. Thank you." —Julio, B.A. Economics Faculty "Just to let you know we have hired Hunter students for the position of Tax Auditor. Thank you for making a recruitment experience at your school a wonderful one." —Annette Chun, Administrator, State of Calfornia-Franchise Tax Board (New York District Office) "On behalf of everyone in our organization, I just wanted to congratulate you on orchestrating an excellent career fair program. Last week’s event was extremely well run, and as an exhibitor, we were deeply appreciative of all of the efforts of both your entire career center staff, and of all of the student and university volunteers. Thanks once again, and we look forward to participating in future events at Hunter College." —David A. Dreifuss, JD, MBA, Executive Vice President & CEO, The Alliance of Insurance & Financial Professionals, New York, NY "Hunter College 08 Career Expo. Thanks for organizing, once again, a wonderful, very well executed event at Hunter College. FYI, I met a recent Hunter grad at the Fall Career Fair and she gave me her résumé. I am doing a recruiting project with the International Division of New York Life Insurance and her accounting background/major and interest in life insurance peaked my interest. I invited her in to meet with our Finance Group and they were very impressed with her knowledge of accounting principles and the life insurance industry and products. She was hired that same week and joined the New York Life International Finance Division upon her graduation this past January! I met some wonderful students today and look forward to being in contact with them via Toigo Talks going forward. Thanks, again." —Angel “Great Students. I keep coming here to recruit because it’s my alma mater.” —Adele Berlinger, US Census Bureau “I just wanted to inform you that we have recently hired a Hunter student. Thank you for all the help you provided. It is a pleasure to have your student work for us." —Human Resource Generalist, Institute for International Research "Thank you for providing us the opportunity to interview students on site at Hunter College. We look forward to continued collaboration." —Ileana Delgado, Contracts Manager/Recruitment NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene/Environmental Disease Prevention |
