What is “The Real World: Making Your Hunter Education Work” all about?
This program is designed for all Hunter students who wish to learn more about the value of a liberal arts education, professional skills that will translate into “real world” success and pre-professional studies at Hunter (specifically Education, Pre-Law, Pre-Health and Pre-Med.) The program will also give current Hunter students a chance to hear from recent Hunter alums who will speak about their Hunter experience. The alumni panel will also give current students “tips for success” as they progress through their time at Hunter and move closer towards the “real world.”

What do I gain from attending “Real World” sessions?
You will gain a greater understanding of what employers and graduate schools value in a candidate. You will learn specific information from pre-professional advisors: Pre-requisites, testing requirements for certain programs/professions, admission procedures to professional programs and standards of practice in various professions. Students attending “Real World” sessions hosted by Career Development Services will also receive a certificate of attendance from Career Development Services. This certificate will be an asset in your professional portfolio as you search for employment and/or graduate programs. Attendees at all sessions will be entered into a raffle for Hunter Bookstore Gift Cards!

Internship Workshop

“Secrets of Hunter Success Panel: A Discussion with Hunter Alums”

“The Crooked Path to Success: A Discussion with Professional Advisors”
11:00 am – Noon
Professional advisors, including pre-Law, pre-Med, Education, and Health, as well as Hunter’s Graduate School advisor, will discuss the many and varied paths to graduate school and the various professions. They will also address the common competencies and qualities that all graduate and professional schools are seeking in their candidates, and how these may be developed throughout your Liberal Arts education at Hunter.
