Introduction

Hunter College is committed to helping you achieve your educational Goals through assistance in finding the financial resources outside of governmental and private loans to support your scholarly endeavors. There are a great many sources of funding available to students but accessing them can be a challenge. This guide is designed to help you understand the sources available and provide you with information on how to decide what is right for you and how to go about applying.

Some of the funds available are for use during your undergraduate career. Others are for graduate studies but you may have to apply for them as early as junior year. This guide has been divided into undergraduate and postgraduate categories. You will also find other ways of organizing the many resources you may want to consider.

Additionally there is information on how to apply and the various factors involved in completing a successful application. As a Hunter student, you have the capacity to compete for the most competitive of fellowships and scholarships available. This guide is a tool to be used to that end.

Whatever you do, don’t assume these grants aren’t for you. Please review this guide. There are resources and people here to help you as well. We want you to make the most of your education. As Hunter students you are among the best New York City has to offer. Go for it!

Sincerely,

Robert D. Greenberg
Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education & Student Opportunities
