Welcome to the International Students Office web site. One of the most diverse colleges in the country, Hunter College of the City University of New York has 1014 F-1 and 11 J-1 visa holders from 105 countries around the world. In the year 2005, some of the most popular majors among international students were Economics, Accounting, Media, Psychology, Computer Science and English Language Arts.

The International Students Office offers help to international students with immigration-related requirements and concerns, such as: obtaining a Social Security card, off-campus employment, practical training, severe economic hardship, reinstatement of status, extension of academic program, and change of status. We also assist students with travel issues, cultural adjustment, everyday problems, and refer students to other resources when needed.

We hold a new student orientation for all new international students each semester. We have workshops on important issues, such as income taxes (1040NRs) and planning for career options here or abroad after graduation. We welcome suggestions for workshop and seminar topics.
