Internships should be for a minimum of 8 weeks and a maximum of 12 weeks. Freeman ASSIST interns should work for a minimum of 25 hours per work. These awards recognize undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship and enthusiasm under extraordinary circumstances. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5. Undergraduate students must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits, have completed at least 24 credits at CUNY and no more than 96 credits total. Graduate students must be registered for a minimum of 3 credits, have completed at least 12 credits and no more than 80% of the credits required for the degree. Applications are available in the Office of the Provost, Room 1701 East. Award: $1000.

This nationwide competition selects undergraduate students based on scholarship, academic talent, creativity and leadership. Student is asked to describe his or her most outstanding intellectual endeavor. The endeavor can be in scholarly research, in the arts, in literature, in community service, in public affairs. The endeavor must have been started during the student's college career and it must have earned some type of public recognition or achieved some tangible results. Twenty winners will each receive $2,500.

The Women's Forum Educational Award

Awards of $3,500 will be given to women over the age of 35 who, after interrupting their education are now pursuing undergraduate degrees at least halftime. Applicants should have demonstrated leadership, motivation, initiative, public citizenship, expertise or interest in a specific area, and financial need. Applicants may include those whose income is above traditional financial aid guidelines. Applications available in Room 1119 East, in September, or at the Forum's website.

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Summer Student Fellowship Program

Open to students of good standing who have completed at least their junior year of undergraduate study with at least a tentative interest in the ocean sciences or marine policy. Applications are welcome from students in the fields of biology, chemistry, geology, geophysics, mathematics, meteorology, physics, oceanography and marine policy. The value of the fellowship is $2,660 plus a travel allowance to Woods Hole for a 12-week program.

Applicants must be pursuing and undergraduate or graduate degree in the fine or commercial arts and plan to enter a career in the creative professions. Students must be full-time matriculated students for the following academic year. Though not a requirement, minority status is a significant factor. Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate financial need. Awards range: $100-$5000.
