For Students Living with Diabetes: Learn How to Control Diabetes So It Doesn’t Control Your Life

Hunter College Wellness Education and the CUNY Campaign Against Diabetes are offering a FREE comprehensive 4-week program for students with diabetes.

This program is for those newly diagnosed as well as those who have been living with diabetes for years. It will be taught by a certified diabetes educator (CDE) and registered dietitian (RD).

There is no cost to attend. All participants will receive a glucose meter.

Topics will include: carbohydrate counting, new treatments and medications, managing diabetes and college life, preventing complications, interpreting blood sugar results, insulin pumps

FREE Mammograms for Hunter College Community! – May 8, 2008
Looking for a Mother’s Day gift?  Instead of spending money on flowers, cards and sweets, why not give mom the gift of health?  A FREE Mammogram! 

Free mammograms to screen for breast cancer will be offered to Hunter students, faculty, staff and members of the community on Thursday, May 8, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Any woman over the age of 40 (the recommended mammogram screening age) is welcome to participate.  Simply call 1-800-564-6868.  Women are encouraged to schedule appointments in advance, as walk-up appointments are limited and not guaranteed.

The mammograms will be performed in a mobile mammography unit operated by the American-Italian Cancer Foundation (AICF), parked on campus at the corner of 68th Street and Lexington Avenue on the Hunter College Campus.

If you know any women in your family – especially those without insurance or the means to pay for the diagnostic procedure – please let them know about this vital initiative as this is a special event for Hunter students, staff and their family and friends.
